What does it mean to be called a Modern Whig?

A Modern Whig is any American who is committed to a pragmatic, merit-based approach to problem solving that is neither clouded by ideological dogma, nor corrupted by special-interest money.

The Modern Whigs intend to be the party of moderate and independent voters from all walks of life whose interests have long been ignored.

We are not seeking to become yet another “third party” that languishes on the fringes with an axe to grind or pushes an extremist ideology. There already are many third, fourth and fifth parties of that kind.

Modern Whigs are building a great and lasting party of virtuous moderation that brings with it a new approach to politics and seeks to put an end to the “best government money can buy” once and for and for all.

I posted this on FB before I found the modern Whig Party.

We are a three tier government. We have the Legislative, Judicial and Executive branches. We do this for check and balance. Why is it we only have a two political parties? The smaller parties (ie. Libertarian and Green) are only sub groups
supporting mother party affiliation.(ie. Tea Party = A subgroup of Republican) We need a third STRONG party unique of the trappings

I think the reason is, because, our Constitution was engineered, while our party system evolved. Evolved to follow the course of events that represented by the populace and system. (that can be messy, natural selection and all.) I think it is time for the populace to evolve, in order to either remove all parties, or only allow odd numbers to be involved, in order to achieve the checks and balance. Just my ramblings on politics.

Good ramblings! And " I'll see your bid and raise it!" by saying the current two party system is truly a lasting vestige of the Civil War and should be scuttled. As the old Whigs disappeared through that conflict, so do the modern Whigs reappear, over a century later, to help guide our Republic into the next century.

All I can say is "Where have you been, my whole life?". I believe that the solution is a true party for the moderates, the actual majority of the people, who have been fooled by the two extreme views, and led to believe that we only are relevant if we are either right or left, we only count if we are liberal or conservative, moderates are "wishy washy", or "flip floppers", not logical, and objective, or willing to try whatever is effective as they should be described, and this has to change. I do not think that in a true democratic republic any extreme policy can be truly representative of the wishes of the majority, and it may well be impossible on some issues. I am truly hoping that this is a serious try at a valid party willing to try, and give it a good try, not just lip service.
