- Who We Are
- Speak Up!
- Take Action
This petition is worth reading by all Whigs. Some anonymous author who tries to support Ron Paul is demanding Government be given back to the people. Whoever the author was my idea of a real American and a real patriot. Well, it hasn't occurred as of yet, has it?
Such sincerity and good will from a citizen who would hold steadfast real principle shows character.
I would liked to know who this mysterious person was who wrote this, and yet it speaks volumes that he or she would be so humble.
I have long meditated on how we could do just that. The more I study the arena the longer it looks like it will take and make no mistake, such an noble goal cannot be readjusted in any short time goal. My admiration for Hilary Clinton was from her speech where she tells everyone that she wants to give the Government back to the people. Yet, the reality is I cannot see it occurring overnight and the goal is far more difficult than she took the time to realize.
To give the Government back to the people we have to undo the problems, attitude and bad laws of bad Presidents. We have to know what the citizens need and how Government can act with diligence as public servants and trustees. We have had good Presidents, of course, that have tried to listen to the American people. I was never worried about the future of America with President Clinton. I was amazed by the way President Ford took the reins of Government stabilizing the Nation after the Viet Nam War. After all, his stamina, strength of character, subtle intelligence was near superhuman. Imagine having a drunken first Lady stumbling around the White House. The amount of patience and the fact he was in involved for a quarter of century having a lot of friends in Washington, D.C. made opposition Party to interfere with his agenda minimal. (not the case with President Obama) He was the right man at the right time.
Others, who did not take the Government away from the people are President Truman who was so beloved by the end of his administration that the stops on his way home by train he was cheered in every city. Of course, he was the President that went from farmer to President. His wit, well versed speeches and down to earth demeanor was a tribute to the American Way.
What is intersting is that both Truman and Ford were somewhat accidental leaders. Isn't President Truman the reason they provide the retired C-in-C with a sizable pension, whether they need it or not? This may sound queer, but somehow C-inC's who actually need that pension post office may be the better leaders. Why? THey havent sold their souls to get there. Most have. Too many "handshakes" en route to the top.
President Ford was an excellent leader. Much better than the paranoid psychopath he replaced.
I cannot share the same sanguine attitude about President Clinton. As smart as he was or is, he really didn't do anything of merit, except sit as C-in-C during one of the greatest economic booms in US history. Epiphenomenal to government, but Dems still claim that as their doing. Knowingly lying is part of the SOP, they call it spin.
For Ms. Clinton to say she wants to "give the government back to the people" seems utterly incongruous with her actions over the last ten years. This Whig may suggest, sir, you judge others soley on actions, and not on words. She has done nothing to PROVE that. Suckers are born every minute sir.
To "give the government back to the people" can only be done one way sir, and its not through any petitions, which are teats on a bullhog. We are required to "take it back" through the ballot. The longer we wait, the more time the two institutionalized parties will have to close off all avenues of competition, which they've made great progess in.
The road to change is by entering the belly of the beast and slaying it, to wit, unassing the spirit of the moneywhore who circles above every capital complex in America and replacing that with ancient and authentic American values, of which you speak. And what is the antithesis of the moneywhore archetype? Someone who does good for others without expecting personal gain? Can you even imagine 535 souls of that ilk running our nation!? Instant statesmen and women!
BTW, to my mind's eye, the key and most ciritical concept in that petition is that WE ought look at our elected representatives as OUR EMPLOYEES, not our leaders. They built themselves a pedistal that they have not earned in the least. Why do we continue to let them?
How pleasant it was again to hear from you, and your latest comment was very enjoyable to read.
