With all the current political turmoil in the news, is this the time to start promoting the Whig party? How did the Tea party, a non political party, gain so much attention and the Modern Whig party nothing? Is the Tea Party aligned similar to the Whig’s?
According to the TeaParty.org
15 Non-negotiable Core Beliefs
1. Illegal aliens are here illegally.
2. Pro-domestic employment is indispensable.
3. A strong military is essential.
4. Special interests must be eliminated.
5. Gun ownership is sacred.
6. Government must be downsized.
7. The national budget must be balanced.
8. Deficit spending must end.
9. Bailout and stimulus plans are illegal.
10. Reducing personal income taxes is a must.
11. Reducing business income taxes is mandatory.
12. Political offices must be available to average citizens.
13. Intrusive government must be stopped.
14. English as our core language is required.
15. Traditional family values are encouraged.
We stand by the Constitution as inherently conservative. We serve as a beacon to the masses that have lost their way, a light illuminating the path to the original intentions of our Founding Fathers. We must raise a choir of voices declaring America must stand on the values which made us great. Only then will the politically blind see and deaf hear!
Should we as the Modern Whig Party offer a hand to the Tea Party and see if they stand beside us?
With regards to the Tea Party or any Party including the Whig my first query is always the same vital question. What occurs if this Party gets 100 % of those tendencies which dominate its point of view?
My second question is whether discarding all its issues to see what it really represents at its core has a real grass root. My third question is what Political Leaders have led to the manifestation of its ideology. I then re look its issues and decide whether it is fit to be an ally of the movement that I consider to represent the American Way the best – which is of course, in my estimation the Whig Party.
Only then, when these questions are sufficiently settled, studied and debated among Whigs could I give an answer to your question.
As it stands now, no real discussion on the Tea Party has been initiated by the Whig Leadership. Therefore, the best direction is to simply give my personal opinion of its general use as a source of interesting articles that bring up issues that might be worth reading.
It is otherwise an excellent question, and one worth pondering.
Addition comments from this query of whether the Tea Party should be approached with an alliance.
As I've already stated this decision would not be mine to decide. I can only raise those questions I have already give possibilities for and let my fellow Whigs look into it. Yet the question is a good one, and we really have a lens that isn't at all the approach of the other Parties and therefore dissection and debate – not to mention a question of motive and aspirations should have some bearing on such an important decision.
How does one know whether any given, new Party isn't a Marxist Socialistic Wolf in the guise of something on the surface ideology is completely attuned to the music of our Star Spangled Banner?
That beggar on the street of San Francisco for instance. Who is he? Can you deduce whether he is a narcotics agent, a spy, a millionaire writing a book on beggars, or is he a real beggar? You throw him a quarter thinking you have done a good deed to someone out on his luck and go on your way without a further thought. Yet, we are not speaking about something so frivolous as the loss of twenty five cents but the loss of our Country to any party that would not be what we think it is and let it take over our beloved Nation.
In the world of Stock Trade, and I have played the Stock Market for years something exists which is called a “stock screener”. This unique method takes away all those stocks which the Stock Trader would consider to be inconsistent with tendency toward the money makers. You are left when you use the stock screener properly only those stocks which you can use candlestick charts to further study points on the charts where the Stocks by pattern can go up and down. Yet, the idea is the same.
You have to learn to screen everything from a Party to see what it really is to see if after studying it is nothing more than weak penny stock under the guise of real potential.
Here is a Stock Screener so the ratio, linear perception can be clearer for you to see my point.
Well, you'll find no equivalent political screener and yet, knowing the creative facilities of Americans I'm sure someone in the future might attempt someone like this and meet with some success.
As long as the political screener wasn't written by a commie I'm sure it would assist with such questions as alliances between political parties or even have an influence on the choice of a political party.
First off, while I cannot speak for national MWP specifically, but like NY WP, we are all gearing up for high visibility. As far as an "alliance" with TP,...
Aulton, too may logical gaffes in that list, as well as things they don't seem to actually do. Whigs dont need the "Ten Commandments". As is clear, even the 15 suffer from gross reductionism.
If I may..... 1.) is a DOH!, #2 is great and we agree, although we actually have a plan.., 3.) somewhat agree, we call it a "strong national DEFENSE", while TP seems quite bent on offense in promoting some Christian values overseas, they claim ( ?) , .4) TR is funded by spec interests, so.. 5.) Sacred? In today;'s world Whigs beleive firearms reponsbility needs to be bolstered, so responsbile ownership and use ought be "sacred", although since we're not dogmatic we say "encouraged as a replacement for government gun controls" because some appeasment to the anti-gun crowd must be agreed upon and Whigs havre actually THOUGHT about this.... 6.) Government must be held to standards of efficiency and accountibility - not simply downsized, 7.) agree, 8.) deficit spending under a mathematical algorithm would be fine under slowdown sceanarios, 9.) not really, , 10. ) They're pretty low right now, yet the system need simply simplification ( which will cause the top 2% to pay more) ,. 11.) our Renewed American System will have tax incentives reduced for DOMESTIC activities only, 12.) yes agree so we are trying to set up a system to do so, 13.) yes, but they do nothing to foster personal responsibility which is the only counter to more intrusion - so nice words but no actionable ideas, 14,) English ought be the ONLY official language in all documents for cost savings and other reasons I would agree, and 14.) whose family? so no, we Whigs dont judge on morals, we only REQUIRE the highest ethics from our citizen-reps.
An off the cuff, from my mind, not offically MWP. There are areas of intersection between Whigs and TP'ers, although Whigs are much less dogmatic, and much more inclusive as a rule. TP tells one what to think, Whigs hope to be a much more "enlightening" and "empowering" experience for voters.
I am sorry Gene
What special interests support the Tea Party? Specifically?
Because while I know this is a Democrat Party Talking Point, and a Media talking point, but specifically what special Interests are supporting the Tea Party? And do you have supporting evidence?
I was not inferring to partner with the TP but there are some issues that we do agree upon. I can say that not every TP group is on the extreem side. Many are people that are searching for something other than the GOP that has abandoned many of its followers. I felt it may be a place to at least in a group or event put out the Whig issues and see if there may be some looking for what we offered.
