I know there is much debate over the validity of political stance testing (especially when the scoring methodology is not made public and not left open for scrutiny and debate). However, I wonder what my fellow Whigs make of PoliticalCompass.org's analysis of the political stances for our current Presidential candidates?

Do you agree or disagree?
Yep. Sad state of affairs. Our contiuing move into Dictatorship.
I grew up in a Republican family. Had conservitive grandparents. But, I never felt they or the democrats made much sense. So, we have today, as has been stated by Mr. Nader, a two-party dictatorship.
I'm all for fighting dictatorship through nonviolent means. I have been willing to fight, using the force of nonviolent actions, for a number of years.
Recently, I've been focused by Mr. Sharp's works. And when so combined with our Inherent Rights of existence, it's a matter of getting enough to join or make alliances with.
I would say that BHO is slightly more left wing given his stimulus package, although I don't really feel that was enough to mprove the economy signifigantly.
Prrsonally, I don't think that the Political Compass is an acurate way of measuring someone's political views since there are so many topics to chose from. Although it is pretty interesting. I'd like to see how Buddy Roemer, Gary Johnson, Rocky Anderson, and Jill Stein go about.
I dont have the time to look into their methodology, which is RECOMMENDED!, but if its true, we clearly screwed. As a trained political scientist something smells "too simple" here, but I have no basis to comment.
If a did Whig appear, he or she best be dead center on their grid. I.E., a true Whig would be agnostic to their framework.
A "true" whig would probably be libertarian on social issues. Economic wise, they are fairly diverse, although it probably would be close to center.
I don't think whigs are agnostic. They are supposed to be pragmatist, which means choosing the best option that works. Since there are different solutions for different situations, they probably would fluctuate on the map.
Gene, I am going to disagree with you, as well. Given that our view is basically from the Enlightenment, you should find that we generally cluster around the "Classical Liberalism" part of the map. Unfortunately, few people today can see the word "liberal" without thinking "left" and "socialism."
We are not agnostic toward the map, as you put it. The very foundation of our belief in using reason instead of ideology is straight from our Enlightenment roots.
I grant you all I may be wrong, its happened once or twice before. But more to the point, that little picture dont mean a thing to me unless I know how its derived. Not the place for assumptions, or discussions built on 'air'.
And the OP called it. Without disclosure of the methodology = fail. Move on. Invalid.
May also suggest that we worry less about how we get pigeonhoeld, as we, if successful, will blow that pigenhole out of the water and create a new one. So why not we focus soley on that, and live free from the judgement of others, or cute little potentially useless algorithms.
Dont get "framed", build a new frame.
Have you tried taking the test yourself? Is it way off in your opinion? Again, I agree with you completely about not trusting stance testing in which the methodology is not open for professional peer review. Just curious...
There is one of these out there that Whig member developed I will have to look to see if I have it saved somewhere.
I made my own Political Compass. I don't know what the questions are or if what I put is accurate.
I would like to see the one Evan's friend made.

Jon, my coordinates were Economic L/R 1.38, Authoritarian -1.46. Sort of across the vertical axis from Ghandi.
Well, its seems accurate, as a dyed-in-the-wool Whig I do flip from "righty" to "hippe lefty" with aplomb and logic as I've moved past those constraints.
And as I said before, a true Whig would be dead center on that graph. I was very close.
A word to ego, when I say I, and call myself a "true Whig", it doesnt give or take away anything from others. It isnt meant to elevate myself, or be better or worse than anyone. As Andrew and the charter members of the org will tell you, I do have a cognitive algorithm called "Whig Zen-see". Seriously, I simply "get it" very intuitively like I've been waiting my whole life for this pair of boots that fits so impeccibly. ( the reason my posts get too long and sometimes I try too hard to 'splain) And plus, if you're going to claim to be a true Whig, it better not be about YOU anyway. ( its the current paradigm - me me me) Service dont mean me , or you. It' the "royal We" baby! WE BE!
