Hi There Whigs.
I am brand new to the Modern Whig Party, but I am learning fast. I have been reading and re reading everything I can find. So far, I totally agree with everything. I have been a Moderate Republican or a "Right Wing Centrist" . After this last go around with the government shutdown, I have decided to take a little step to the left which lands me right in the middle. I found out about the Whig party when it was mentioned in a comment section of Yahoo News. I think the story was about the ACA falling apart or something like that. I am looking for a political home and this place is really cozy. It is good to be here.
Well, my theory that the confusion of the trolls on those comment posts would not give us any membership is shattered by the news you actually found us by Yahoo news. I some times read the comments on articles on the CNN comments and it always seems so dispersive. One of the more ironic metaphors from our Party Founder, Henry Clay was: “I would rather be right than President.”
Yet, it might otherwise amuse you with the irony that when he meant "right" you have a tendency to want to debate whether this means “right wing”. Interesting, don't you think, where metaphor could actually cause a real debate? Be that as it may, I call myself as a Whig, Center. Recently, a brother Whig informed me he read my posts and that in his opinion I was “right” about everything I said. Now, that really amused me.
I welcome you the Modern Whig Party and look forward to your perspective on any issues you deem fit to expound.
Welcome Lance. We Whigs are pretty egalitarian in terms of where our members come from. We seem to be attracting more former Reps than former Dems, but in my estimation, that will change soon. In fact, in NY, we intend on focusing as much on recruiting Dems ( NY is way blue), than on Reps. Yet, the message is contra-partisan, so we dont speak much to right and left, as we intend on destroying or permanently altering that distinction. Maybe to "cleansouls" dismay it would seem!
Whigs are defining two new wings, "wright" and wrong.
Comfort, btw, is something we cannot, as citizens afford anymore! So while its grand the "suit fits"comfortably", we ask you to get uncomfortable and help promote this new era of governance we are trying to bring to light.
Thank you sir!
“The Modern Whigs are a pragmatic, common sense, centrist-oriented party where rational solutions trump ideology and integrity trumps impunity."
As you would note from the above definition of what “we believe” Mr. Chaas has developed his coordinates from parameters that although on the surface are in contradiction with this line when you
think outside the box he has tried to develop some originality of thought in his political perception.
It is without a doubt that his independence of thought could only be useful in the long run. Better a man like him than some weak fool who let others spoon feed some dogmatic curriculum which makes him a sorry robot. It is no odds whether Mr. Chaas should take this stand that the party should be centrist-oriented party or not and in apparent contradiction to the above quote. What is important is to take his objection as an example and not be spoon fed by him by some dogmatic curriculum of his that would repeat that slave that would chain the slave or master that would chain the master. Therefore, whatever stand he takes should be observed, respected and you must in the end make your own decision on how you are to view it. Of course, the above definition is the definition of a modern Whig. The original definition as it was passed on to me was “those who oppose the false elites”. Yet, the origin of our Nation was that opposition toward King George which you can study carefully to see how our system of Government still holds a sword against the false elites in so many ways, and especially in the relationship between Government and citizen. We exist again to assure that the false elites in whatever form do not upset our system of Government. Therefore, the above definition from the Modern Whig Party is simply a parameter. You must study it and develop your own. My only objection to what we believe line is “rational solutions trump ideology”. I have already elaborated on its lack of linear logic and warned everyone on its lack of depth knowing how the ideology of a successful politician will create a school of thought which which can create a political party. You can read my theories and objections in all in my posts.
What attracted me to the Modern Whigs is the fact that, for the most part, there are very few real Democrats or Republicans. We seem to be plagued by some weird half-breed that has morphed into the same animal over all. I knew in advance they would avoid alleged "default", and sure enough, they did.
A real 3rd choice throws a big monkey wrench into the cogs of the "established" machine. Too much of the idea of getting "a pound of flesh" is running rampant through Washington including a leader who's intentions are questionable to say the least.
It's time for the Whigs to do what they did in Clay's time: Rattle the cages.
Yes, of course. I see what you are stating. It is most definitely a plague to see Washington D.C. produce nothing more than predictable people with predicable actions. Well, this need not occur if they would exercise freedom of speech. Yet to exercise freedom of speech they have to look into our principles with more than a mere one dimensional mind. The lack of creative insight from these types of minds makes Me ponder whether a platitude is any better than a proverb to minds who would not see any insights in the writings of our Founding Fathers. In addition, I see it most distressing that they cannot inspire anyone by such molds of behavior having lost themselves on petty power games between themselves rather than concentrate on priorities. The debates are so hopeless where no real point is found whereas they lose touch with the solution of the issue. Rather than come to an agreement based on real American value they try to reinvent the system in the dangerous, degenerate, devious, ideologies of socialism. Why, no one seems to be the least bit patriotic these days in Washington, D.C..
A curious state of affairs, don't you think? Where when July 4th comes around so many are enjoying the fireworks and nothing comes to such minds with regards to what it should mean. They will say.
“Wow, dude. Check those fireworks out” You answer: “Yes, very nice. I'm waiting.” They will say:
“Hey dude, have fun with the babe”. Of course I wasn't waiting for a woman. I was waiting for him to think. Of course, I would then disappear into the crowd in spite of it all & be happy that I live in America.
Yet, the right Whig Candidate in the right place might really make a difference if they could really, really, learn to inspire others like Thomas Jefferson or other political geniuses.
Welcome, I hope we can develop a strong Whig party here in Georgia, and at some time have it as a fully recognized party here in Ga
