Greetings from your national treasurer! I took this poistion on, in addition to NY Chair, NE Regional, as no one else was stepping up. I hope to not maintain the postion indefinitely as I'd much rather be writing copy, crafting the Associations, and building NYS up for a gubernatorial run in three years. These areas are where my true talents lie. I'm not a consummate bookeeper.

FEC filings require quarterly updates. The only thing we have in current filing is the MWP PAC. Don't let the name fool you, this is only for development and promotion of the MWP in general and its principles, and not for any candidate dibsursements. FEC rules require separate "committees" for that.

The PAC and candidate/electoral support must remain separate. Example, we formed a multi candidate comittee ( NCC) last year, to support various candiates. I then shut it down to avoid having to continue quarterly filings.

Right now the MWP PAC is receiveing all the donations. If we endorse a candidate, or supply funds to a candidate, then the PAC would transfer funds to a newly formed NCC. ( up to 5K in this config only).

We'll likely do this soon to help Alan Reynolds in CA unless our individual donations are adequate.

Each candidate unless its a national office, like Alan, will have to do their own FEC filing and reporting of donations. This resposibility should not be falling on the Nat'l treasurer, as we will eventually have state treasurers as well.

So far the functions aren't that burdensome time wise, maybe 2-3 hours a week at most. But I can envision a period of time , during electoral cycles, where this can grow to 10 hours a week or so for short periods of time. These are only estimates.

If no accounting types step up, I might suggest to the Executive Committee that we farm out the accounting and filing to a bonafide firm, which is a pretty stiff cost. We'd prefer to have in house experts. It isnt rocket science BUT its very important we keep our FEC accoutning up to date and accurate.

The National Treasurer is a member of the Executive Committee by By Laws, so it give you some influence at the highest level.

Get with me if interested. We'd prefer someone who is bonded ( I am), and demonstrate utter, and I mean friggin' utter reliability ( better than me!).

David Erwin has volunteered to help out, but I don;t think he wants the official, held accountible, title of Treasurer.

David , if I am wrong, all y'all disregard the last few paragraphs! :) Yet truly, we defintiely need to be two or even three deep in personnel with the finance functions.

CPAs are quite preferred!
